A ward vacuum unit is a critical component of a Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS) used in hospitals to provide regulated suction for patient care. It typically consists of a polycarbonate collection jar—available in sizes like 600 ml, 1 L, or 2 L—which is transparent, unbreakable, and autoclavable for hygiene and durability. The unit is equipped with a vacuum regulator that allows precise adjustment of suction levels, generally within the range of 0 to –760 mm Hg, and is accompanied by an analog vacuum gauge for monitoring. A built-in overflow safety trap prevents fluids from entering the pipeline or regulator, ensuring safe operation. The entire assembly is usually wall-mounted using a sturdy bracket or clamp and is designed for continuous, reliable use in wards, emergency rooms, or intensive care units. These units conform to medical standards and often carry CE or FDA certifications. Their ease of maintenance, sterilization, and consistent performance make them essential for clinical suction applications.
